Meet Our AnimalsCalifornia Animal Rescue Inc is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Santa Rosa, California. We are dedicated to rescuing animals from shelters, abusive situations, and other dangerous circumstances, providing them with the veterinary care, rehabilitation, and love they need to thrive — and then finding them safe, permanent, loving homes. Our team of dedicated staff and volunteers works tirelessly every day to give animals in Northern California a second chance at life.
Our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome animals in need across Northern California, while promoting responsible pet ownership and humane treatment of all animals through community education and advocacy. We envision a California where no animal suffers from neglect, abuse, or abandonment — and where every pet lives in a safe, loving home.
California Animal Rescue Inc takes a comprehensive approach to animal welfare. We rescue animals from high-kill shelters, owner surrenders, and cruelty situations; provide thorough veterinary care including spay/neuter, vaccinations, and treatment for injuries and illness; place animals in loving foster homes while they await adoption; and carefully match animals with adopters who can provide the right environment for their needs.
We offer a range of programs to help animals find loving homes and support the broader animal welfare community in Northern California.
We have a wide variety of dogs and cats of all ages, breeds, and personalities available for adoption. All of our animals are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and health-checked before adoption. Our adoption counselors work with each family to find the perfect match for their lifestyle and home environment.
Our foster program is the heart of our rescue operation. Foster families provide temporary homes for animals while they recover from illness or injury, adjust to life outside a shelter, or simply wait for the right adopter. Fostering is one of the most impactful ways to help animals in need — and it saves lives every day.
We provide community education programs on responsible pet ownership, animal welfare, and the importance of spaying and neutering. Our educational outreach helps prevent animal overpopulation, reduce shelter intake, and build a more compassionate community for animals across Northern California.
